Our Story
Sir Reginald Pemberton Q.C. established the firm at 11 Pemberton Square following a distinguished career in the Attorney General's Department. The practice initially focused on constitutional and administrative matters, quickly earning a reputation for principled advocacy before the highest courts of the Republic.
Following the liberalisation of the telecommunications sector and the energy boom of the early 1990s, the firm expanded its corporate and commercial division. The addition of Counsel Margaret Alleyne-Ferreira brought deep expertise in energy law, positioning the firm as a leader in this rapidly evolving sector.
The firm opened a liaison office in Bridgetown, Barbados, cementing its capacity to serve multinational clients operating across CARICOM jurisdictions. This period saw landmark representation in cross-border commercial arbitrations and a series of landmark energy sector disputes.
The appointment of Dominique Pemberton-Charles as Senior Partner marked the firm's generational transition. Under her stewardship, the firm modernised its practice management, introduced a structured pro bono programme and forged academic partnerships with the Hugh Wooding Law School.
Today Pemberton & Associates comprises 24 legal professionals across six practice areas, with a track record spanning over 1,400 resolved matters. The firm continues to define the standard of legal excellence in Trinidad and Tobago and the wider Caribbean basin.
